Clean contemporary exterior lines
This impressive home offered some unique challenges in its initial design. Dictated by the exceptional views, the home is situated on a sideway-sloped lot and backed by parkland. The clean contemporary exterior lines are complemented with warm wood accents. Literally, we pulled this exterior theme right into the interior spaces – a 55-foot wood beam extends through the home! Solid wood timbers and soffit material became stunning interior finishes. Garage access for two cars and a boat was accomplished by splitting the entrances, thereby respecting the overall design.
A striking two-storey, grand front entry welcomes guests. Ceiling heights were dropped in the living and dining areas, achieving a more intimate feel. In the kitchen the sloped ceiling soars to the outside via striking clerestory windows. Unique ‘double islands’ – one is a workstation with a ‘wow factor’, the other is perfect for serving or as a breakfast bar. Dynamic-looking Neolith tile is utilized for the kitchen backsplash, fireplace surround, and outdoor patio flooring. Beautiful, wide-plank brushed oak hardwood flooring flows throughout.
The home’s interior is designed to separate everyday activities from quiet relaxation. A service corridor allows for easy flow from garage, through mudroom, to kitchen. The guest suite, which occupies a full wing of the home, includes a casita lounge with courtyard access. In future, this area could easily become a master-on-main suite.
Indoor and outdoor living blends seamlessly from the front door to the back patio…this home is truly a beauty!
